I don’t know anyone who isn’t a Starbucks junkie these days. For me, making a trip to Starbucks feels like a little vacation. No kids, no hubby — it’s just me and my cup!
So it’s really hard NOT to go to a Starbucks drive-thru every day. But here’s the thing: Starbucks ain’t cheap.
So I’ve gotten better at staying away because spending $80 a month on coffee isn’t in our budget. The good news is there are several ways I’ve learned to get cheap Starbucks drinks!
Learning how to get free Starbucks this way makes my coffee habit a little more affordable so I can actually enjoy my drink guilt-free — so of course, I’m going to share them with you too!
Here’s how to get free Starbucks gift cards and cheap Starbucks drinks:
1. Earn free Starbucks gift cards with Swagbucks.
With Swagbucks, I am able to earn Starbucks gift cards every month with very little work. They have surveys you can take and there are countless other ways to earn points, like by simply using their search engine.
With Swagbucks, you just earn points, which you can then trade in to earn Starbucks gift cards!
2. Take Surveys with Survey Junkie to get free Starbucks drinks.
Survey Junkie allows you to sign up for many survey companies. You earn points by taking surveys, and you can then redeem your points for cash via Paypal or get gift cards to Starbucks!
3. Buy discounted gift cards from Cardpool to get cheap Starbucks drinks.
Until recently, I had no idea what discounted gift cards were! Now, this is my favorite way to get cheap Starbucks drinks. You can find hundreds of Starbucks gift cards discounted at up to 11.5% OFF online at Cardpool.
Inventory at Cardpool does change every day so when you find a gift card you want it’s best to grab it right away! You can choose between an eGift card or a Use Anywhere card (for online and in-store orders!). It’s such a genius way to splurge at Starbucks on a budget!
4. Bring your own cup into Starbucks.
Many people don’t know that if you bring your own reusable cup, mug, or travel tumbler into Starbucks, you’ll save 10 cents on the price of your drink! It may not seem like a lot now, but every little bit helps.
5. Download the free Starbucks App.
If you’re at Starbucks more than twice a week and you want to know how to get free Starbucks, using the Starbucks app can help when you sign up for the rewards program because having a registered card will score you free food and drinks. Plus, with the Starbucks Mobile app, you can order ahead and pay by phone which is SUPER convenient!
Here’s what you get when you join:
Green Level (attained when you sign up)
- Free refills on hot or iced brewed coffee, cold brew, or hot or iced tea in stores

- Monthly Double Star Days: one day each month when you can earn Double-Stars on all qualifying in-store purchases
- A personalized Gold Card
6. Refill for 50 cents? Yes, please!
When one cup just isn’t enough, you can get a refill on brewed coffee for just 50 cents during the same visit – even if your original drink was not a hot coffee, iced coffee, hot tea, or iced tea!
7. You can skip bottled water.
Yup! You can officially pass up on the bottled water at Starbucks because the ice and tap water in Starbucks is already triple-filtered, plus it’s FREE!
8. Get Starbucks for free on your birthday.
When you’re a Starbucks rewards member (which is free to join), you’re entitled to almost anything in the store on your birthday! But if you forget to stop in, you’ve got 30 days after your birthday to redeem your reward.
9. Brew your favorite Starbucks drink at home.
Did you know you can buy Starbucks coffee beans at the coffee shop and grocery stores? You can save money by being your own barista at home! Plus, you can find creative Starbucks recipes that show you how to make it taste just as great as it would if you got it from Starbucks.
10. Avoid the drive-thru when you can.
I know, it’s so tempting, but any time you place your order at the drive-thru, baristas have to charge you for the add-ons or extras. However, when you order inside, most of the time baristas will happily add extras for free!
11. Order a ‘Short’
Yes, this is smaller than a ‘Tall’ and it’s cheaper too! It’s 8 fl. oz. instead of 12 fl. oz. which will make whatever drink you order at Starbucks cheap! (But you’ll have to ask for it because it’s not on the menu.)
I hope you see that you don’t have to give up your
obsession LOVE for Starbucks because you’re on a budget!
You can still save money by learning how to get free Starbucks gift cards and cheap Starbucks drinks when you use discounted Starbucks gift cards, the Starbucks app, and Survey Junkie or Swagbucks to earn free money before your next visit.
